THC and Anxiety

THC may initially relieve anxiety, but over time, increased use leads to diminished effects and even heightened anxiety. As the body adapts to frequent THC exposure, the receptors responsible for its effects become less responsive, requiring higher doses for the same relief. Surprisingly, even those who weren't initially depressed may experience increased depression as a consequence of cannabis use, making them four times more likely to develop chronic major depression.
