Alcohol and Food Effects

Drinking one or two alcoholic beverages can have different effects based on body weight, tolerance, and whether food has been consumed. Eating before or while drinking slows alcohol absorption into the bloodstream, especially when all three macronutrients—carbohydrates, fats, and proteins—are included. However, eating after becoming inebriated won't sober you up faster, but it can mitigate the effects of any additional alcohol consumed.
