Xi Jinping's Leadership

Lex Fridman asked Ray Dalio to describe the defining characteristics of Xi Jinping, the president of China. Ray Dalio explained that Xi Jinping had a difficult upbringing during the Cultural Revolution and rose through the ranks to become president. When he first came to power, he wanted to move to a market economy and reduce corruption. Over the past ten years, China has developed a vibrant capital market and has had to deal with rising debt. Xi Jinping has also implemented a policy of "core leadership" which is a more centralized decision-making process.
