Hearing loss is linked to cognitive decline, but not everyone with hearing loss will develop dementia. Standard hearing tests may not accurately identify those at risk, as the auditory system has significant redundancy. Innovative tests, such as assessing speech comprehension in noisy environments, are being developed to better understand this connection and improve detection methods.
