Psilocybin and Meditation

Roland and Rhonda discuss the similarities between the effects of psilocybin and meditation on the Default Mode Network, which is associated with rumination and self-referential processing. Both psilocybin and meditation appear to decrease activity in this network, leading to a sense of present-moment awareness and decreased sense of self. Neuroimaging studies have shown that both psilocybin and meditation affect connectivity among the hubs of the Default Mode Network, and there is potential for further research in this area.
