Fasting and Ketogenic Diets

Valter Longo discusses the effects of fasting mimetic and ketogenic diets on multiple sclerosis. The diets cause white blood cells to be partially destroyed and turn on stem cells, leading to about 20% of mice being disease-free. The oligodendrocytes with inflammation go down, allowing progenitor cells to rebuild the spinal cord. The same effects were seen in humans with multiple sclerosis.
